How to configure an Alcatel-Lucent omniswitch

The switch is a Layer 2 devices that has the capability to learn the Hardware address or the Mac address of devices directly connected to its ports.

Following are the various commands that will help you configure a switch.

Main function of a switch is learning the Mac and forwarding the packet to the specific port.Mac address can be viewed using the below command.

-> show mac-address-table

Configuring vlans:

vlan vlanid enable name “vlan name”:to create a vlan id and name

eg:vlan 206 enable name “shibanis”

To associate a vlan with port :vlan vlanid port default switch port
vlan 206 port default 1/32

Ip/Network interface “interface name ” address “address” mask “mask” vlan vlan id

ip interface “shibanis” address 135.249.21.229 mask 255.255.255.0 vlan 206 ifindex 1

To delete the configs:

no ip interface/router “interface name”

show VLAN port lists all the ports:
